This was a group project I completed during my final term at UTS, focused on designing for SaintsCare, a non-profit organization supporting homeless youth in Australia. Our team of five included me as the sole animator. I contributed to the design process through research, concept development, and storyboard creation. In the video editing phase, I took charge of audio editing and animation. The illustrations and style frames were created by three classmates, while the voiceovers were provided by SaintsCare clients and staff. The background music was sourced from Lemonmusicstudio on Pixabay.

Concept & Key Values
Focusing on SaintsCare’s three core values—community, safe space, and hope—we developed the “missing piece” concept to symbolize the invitation for the audience, clients, and donors to join the community, like completing a puzzle. We used the metaphor of envelopes to tell the story, encouraging the audience to become part of SaintsCare. The narrative begins with a SaintsCare envelope, which reveals the stories of staff and clients, and ultimately returns to the same envelope. Through these stories and voices, the video gradually conveys SaintsCare’s key values to the audience.
Animation Idea
To highlight the values of diversity and inclusivity, we adopted a collage visual style, aiming to create a puzzle-like effect by incorporating elements such as letters with different voices, hands of various skin tones, face puzzles, and sticky notes. To make the animation more dynamic, I introduced playful transitions and added a subtle wiggle to many visual elements while maintaining consistent motion principles throughout, including easing, toggle hold keyframes, scaling, and directional consistency. The overall motion follows a down-up-down rhythm, with the middle section serving as the focal point.
