Brief : A Mirror Journey

This is a Uni assignment that requires students to redesign a classic book with the open and close chapter. It is aimed to introduce the book from designer’s personal perspective and create a unique reading experience for readers. Stray Birds is a poetry that brought me a lot of enjoyable reading time with its beautiful language when I was a kid(Chinese version). Through this project, I read the book again and tried to build a connection with the author and my childhood through reading. The design uses inspiring illustration, format and experimental typography layout to create a inspiring reading experience.

I named the concept “A Mirror Journey,” this design transforms the short poetry collection into two interconnected parts. The deliberate highlighting of differences and connections between the two sections offers readers a distinctive and thought-provoking reading experience. The goal is to inspire readers and encourage them to undertake a personal journey of self-reflection as they are reading the book.
