Digital typewriter
I created this project at 2022 as a university assignment. In this project, I needed to visit Powerhouse Museum and pick up one collection to design a user experience. The Valentine typewriter caught my eyes in the museum and brought some great memory back to me when I often wrote letters to my best friend. The project started from a sketch in the museum.
The Valentine Typewriter stands out as an iconic design in the realm of typewriters, infusing this classic machine with a distinctive identity through its vibrant visual aesthetics. The inspiration drawn from the red typewriter imbues a romantic and special impression for the audience.
The interactive design of the Valentine Typewriter seeks to provide visitors with a unique opportunity, inviting them to experience the act of typing a short letter on a digital typewriter that authentically simulates its physical counterpart within the museum. In a world where smartphones and apps have become the norm for communication, this initiative aims to evoke a sense of nostalgia and remind people of the time when choosing letter papers or cards to convey sentiments to family and friends was a meaningful act.
By encouraging this interactive experience, the hope is to inspire individuals to explore alternative and enjoyable ways of communication, prompting a reflection on the value of thoughtful and deliberate expression in our interactions with one another.
